What better way to enjoy the onset of fall than to visit a pumpkin patch? For the past couple of years, I've wanted to take the girls to visit a pumpkin patch but it hasn't worked out for one reason or another. This year my mom found out about a pumpkin patch/critter farm about 45 minutes away from our house. It sounded like it would be a fun trip, so off we went.
We couldn't have picked a better day to go. The temperature started out cool, but not too chilly. There were other people there but the 'farm' wasn't overly crowded. The place was filled with stations for the girls to play. There were two bounce houses, a small playground area, a petting farm, a hayride, story time with cookies and pumpkin bread, little kittens to hold, and a few other things, including a pumpkin patch.
Out of everything to do on the farm, the pumpkins seemed to hold the least amount of appeal to either girl. They both enjoyed the bounce houses and the petting farm. Julie was a little suspicious of the goats at first, but she warmed up a bit. Both girls had a great time sitting on hay bales and munching on cookies, while sort of listening to the story. The hay ride was lots of fun too, but hands-down, the favorite activity was catching a little kitten to hold. Neither girl wanted to let that kitty go, and the owners would have been happy for us to take one home, but I wasn't ready to make a pet commitment. Sorry girls!
We had a great day and would definitely visit again.

So cute!
We grew our own pumpkins this year, but I had to harvest them a little early because of the frost. So we had some small, green pumpkin grenades that Evelyn was convinced were balls that needed to be thrown around the house. The results were exactly what you'd expect from that sort of situation.
